Search for Missing Connecticut Teen Extends to Coventry Woods
State police are asking volunteers to allow the K9 dogs to search the woods near Sterling, Conn.

COVENTRY, RI —A Sterling, Conn., teen has been missing since Monday, last heard from when he texted his girl friend to say he had injured his leg.
The search for Todd Allen, 18, is extending into the Coventry woods, according to news sources. Allen liked to ride his dirt bike along trails into Rhode Island.

State Police said Allen left his home at 42 Dixon Road in Sterling, Conn., at approximately 1 p.m. on Dec. 26. He left on his red Honda XR100 dirt bike in an unknown direction of travel. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a camouflage sweatshirt and a back pack.
"Allen is described as a white male, approximately 5’ 10”, 130 lbs, with brown hair and blue eyes," police said. "He frequents the Rails to Trails bike path that goes from Sterling into Coventry, as well as the area of Ross Pond.

"The Connecticut State Police is requesting assistance in locating Todd Allen. If you have seen or know the whereabouts of Todd Allen, please contact Troop D at 860-779-4900. Troop D also asks that the public refrain independent searches, but to check-in at checkpoints or with FD personnel to be assigned a search area.
"Allen’s dirt bike does not have a headlight therefore he was expected to return home before dark.
"Troopers initiated an investigation, spoke with Allen’s family and friends, and began a search of areas he is known to frequent. Troopers also began searching along the Rails to Trails bike path in Sterling. Along with Connecticut State Troopers and State Police K9 Teams, Search and Rescue K9 Teams, the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP), Sterling Fire Department, South Killingly Fire Department, Plainfield Police Department, Rhode Island police departments, Connecticut State Police Aviation Unit – Trooper One and several others have joined the search for Todd Allen.
"On December 16 at approximately 1:50 p.m. Allen sent a text message reporting to have crashed his dirt bike and injured his leg. Several attempts to call, text and ping Allen’s cell phone since December 26th revealed that the phone is either turned off or the battery has drained and an accurate location could not be obtained.
The Connecticut State Police also posted the latest update on Facebook.
