Snow Expected to Last Until Monday, Another Foot Possible
Monday could be another day of closings and cancellations for most of Rhode Island.

Here we go again. For the third straight week, Rhode Islanders will be dealing with potentially heavy snowfall.
Some parts of northern and western Rhode Island could see up to a foot or more of snow by the time this drawn-out storm finally ends.
Though the snow isn’t expected to fall as hard as in the Blizzard of 2015 or the Groundhog Day storm, the four-day event will make travel treacherous at times.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch from 1 a.m. Sunday through 1 a.m. Tuesday. The NWS said hazardous driving conditions are “expected during this long duration event… Blowing and drifting snow likely by Monday yielding poor visibility at times.”
Saturday brought some light flurries but had little impact on travel. The real snowmaking will kick in on Sunday with the heaviest snow Sunday night into Monday night.

Snowfall totals might range anywhere from a few inches on the immediate coast up to 14 inches in the typically snowier regions.
Though the total snowfall amounts won’t be close to breaking records, shoveling out will be tricky since most of Rhode Island has seen more than 30 inches since the blizzard two weeks ago.
