Storm Will Hit Coventry During Holiday Travel Time
It will be a wet, windy and warm Christmas in Rhode Island this year

A giant storm system is heading our way and forecasters said Sunday that it could wallop an area from the midwest to the Eastern Seaboard with heavy rains and wind gusts of 50 MPH just in time for holiday travel.
While the storm won’t be bringing snow, flooding on the ground and delays in air travel are expected, according to Weather.com, which called the potential for the storm “very serious.”
In Rhode Island, the forecast calls for the rain to gradually begin starting Monday night into Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Thunder joins the mix on Christmas Eve along with heavy rain and strong wind gusts that could reach upwards of 40 mph.

At the same time, temperatures will be quite mild on Wednesday and Thursday, approaching records. On Christmas Day could warm up to 59 degrees before the storm system clears out and colder air returns.
Most areas will get about one- to two-inches of rain before the storm is gone.
