The Essential oils of Summer

Summer is the season of outdoors, barbecues, beaches, and back yard fun. But sometimes little things happen that can take the fun right out of summer. Bee stings, poison ivy, hay fever, a sprained ankle and that mysterious rash or sore muscles from too much beach volleyball. Luckily there is an essential oil that can help with all of those mishaps of summer.
Essential oils are obtained from plants, there are many ways to obtain essential oils and their uses are almost limitless. There are few if any side effects from them which makes theme an excellent choice.
Summer outdoors is bound to have its boo boos like a sunburn and there are many old ways to take the sting out of a sunburn, but the best is lavender oil, mixed with aloe vera gel. Bee stings are soothed by 2 drops of undiluted lavender oil, stops the pain in seconds. That poison ivy or oak you walked thru while out hiking with your pals, can be taken care of by some mugwort mixed with aloe vera gel, and about that rash you picked up somewhere, try chamomile either the roman or german, with some aloe vera gel and you will be good to go again.
The great outdoors also brings hay fever, but a blend of eucalyptus, geranium and lavender oils 10 drops each into 2 cups boiling water, with a towel for a tent, breathe in the relief! They all contain natural antihistamines and if you cant find all of them they may be used individually or in combination.  Sprains and strains are just a little bit different, rosemary and peppermint with a dash of ginger, 15 drops to one ounce of carrier oil, apply directly to sprain or strain and massage gently. The rosemary increases blood flow and the peppermints menthol provides pain relief.
The best carrier oils are cold pressed and the standard amounts are 10 to 15 drops essential oil to one ounce of carrier oil, some of the best oils are, Almond, apricot, cocoa butter, glycerin, jojoba oil, olive oil and aloe gel.
