Tiogue Lake Treated For Invasive Plants

Briar Point Beach will remain open for swimming and the water will be safe for boating and fishing.

COVENTRY, RI — Tiogue Lake is being treated with herbicide on Monday to address invasive aquatic plants in the water. The area will remain open to swimming, boating and other activities and Briar Point Boat will not be closed, the Tiogue Lake Association said.

The herbicide will be focused to Tiffany Cove, Harrington Cove and Briar Point Cove. According to town officials, the water will be safe for swimming and other activities, but there will be a one-day restriction on drinking the water and a three-day restriction on irrigation to the treated areas.

Signs will be posted near treated areas by Solitude Lake Management, which is managing the treatment. Anyone with questions can reach out to the company directly by calling 888-480-5253.
