West Warwick Firefighters Memorial Vandalized

West Warwick Police are investigating after several stones were knocked down or damaged at the firefighter's memorial park on Cowesett Ave.

WEST WARWICK, R.I. -- Police are investigating after the firefighter's memorial park on Cowesett Avenue was vandalized over the weekend.

" The West Warwick Fire Fighters are heartbroken at the senseless vandalism visited upon our Memorial Park at Station 4, on March 16, 2019," West Warwick Firefighter wrote on Facebook. "Rest assured we are working with the West Warwick Police to make sure that the individual(s) will be held responsible."

A stone bench was knocked over along with a large memorial pillar. In addition, a large stone was dragged along the flagstone path, causing damage to the path and memorial bricks embedded into it.

West Warwick Fire Chief Jeffrey Varone declined to comment, citing the active investigation.
