Western Coventry Firefighters Work Plainfield Pike House Fire

COVENTRY, RI—An early morning house fire closed down Plainfield Pike (Route 14) near the Connecticut state line. According to Coventry police, the fire at 2172 Plainfield Pike brought out the Western Coventry Fire District, local police, Connecticut State Police and mutual aid fire companies.

As of 6:30 Sunday morning, the firefighters were still working at the scene.

"There are no injuries reported," police said. "At this point the damage to the structure appears extensive."

The state Fire Marshal and the fire department will determine the cause.
