COVENTRY, RI — Rhode Island is in the grips of yet another heat wave, with temperatures reaching the 90s and feel-like temperatures climbing upwards of 100 degrees in some areas.

During extreme heat, Rhode Island communities open cooling centers to give residents a place to sit in air conditioning and escape the brutal temperatures. According to the Rhode Island Emergency Management Agency, Coventry residents can visit police or fire stations during off-hours if they need to cool down. Call ahead to ensure centers are open and for information about COVID-19 safety measures.
