Woman Injured In Coventry House Fire

The fire at the Main Street home started when someone tried to light the fireplace in the basement, according to Coventry fire officials.

COVENTRY, RI — A woman was injured in a house fire in Coventry on Sunday night, according to town fire officials.

Fire officials told WPRI 12 the fire started around 9 p.m. on Main Street, when someone tried to light the fireplace in the basement. One woman was taken to the hospital, while two children were not harmed, according to fire officials.

Police temporarily closed Main Street between Gail Street and Alvero Road while firefighters battled the flames.
