Woman Killed in Pedestrian Accident ID'd

Police also said it doesn't look like the driver, who stopped after the accident, was speeding or under the influence.

Cheryl Sherman, 53, of Coventry, was killed when she was struck by a pickup truck on Howard Avenue on Monday night, police said.

Coventry police identified Sherman on Tuesday after notifying her family members.

Police said they responded at around 9:09 p.m.

The driver of the truck, Brian Blanchette, 29, of Coventry, stopped after striking Sherman, police said.

Alcohol and speed do not appear to be factors in the crash.

The accident remains under investigation.

Police said they might release more information later.
