2 Rhode Island Residents Win $50k From Lottery Tickets

One of the winners, a Westerly man, said he dreamt he won the night before and will use the lottery earnings towards a new house.

CRANSTON, RI โ€” Two Rhode Island residents won $50,000 from lottery tickets.

Rhode Island Lottery officials said a Providence woman won $50,000 playing the "Big Money" instant game. Her son bought the winning ticket for her at Seasons Corner Market on Douglas Pike in Smithfield.

In addition to winning instantly, some Rhode Island Lottery instant games also offer a second chance to win more prizes and cash. The "Premier VIP" instant ticket included four-second chance drawings, and each drawing gave players a chance to choose their VIP prize from eight different โ€” seven trip options or $4,000 cash.

Then, in the fourth and final second chance drawing, a $50,000 top prize was also available to win. In Wednesday's final drawing, an East Greenwich man and a Pawtucket woman were the winners of the VIP prizes.

A Westerly man won the $50,000 prize. The top prize winner told Rhode Island Lottery staff that he said a prayer the night before the drawing that he would win, then he dreamt he won that night. He would like to use the money to buy a house.
