Nine more Rhode Island businesses were cited for violating the state's coronavirus safety regulations over the past week, the Department of Health announced Friday afternoon. The COVID-19 Enforcement Task Force, a collaboration between the departments of Health and Business Administration, awarded perfect scores to nearly 300 businesses, which included restaurants, banks, personal services, the hospitality industry, fitness and retail stores.

The noncompliant businesses are from across the state: three in Providence and one each in Bristol, Westerly, Cranston East Providence Woonsocket and Central Falls. A list of fully compliant businesses is available online.

The task force issues three types of citations: compliance orders, immediate compliance orders and combination orders. The first requires allows businesses to remain open while the issues are addressed, while the second, for more egregious violations, forces the businesses to shut down until another inspection is completed. A combination order allows the businesses to stay open, but requires the noncompliant area, often a bar, to close until violations are remedied.
