PROVIDENCE, RI — Two accused porch pirates were caught in the act on Tuesday. Providence police were able to identify the pair and recover several stolen packages.

According to police, a Mink Road resident reported that someone wearing a black North Face sweater, gray sweatpants, white shoes and a dark hooded sweatshirt stole a package from his front porch just after 4 p.m. Using a video, officers were able to identify that the thief was wearing a pair of Nike Air Jordan Nick 3’s and was driving a black pickup truck with a Massachusetts registration around the area of Gentian Avenue, stealing packages from porches.

Not long after, a Providence police officer pulled the truck over and found the man inside matched the resident's description, along with stolen packages inside the cab. The man was later identified as Nathaniel Robinson, 45, of Providence, and the driver as Carolyn Bird, 48, also of Providence. Both were taken to Providence police headquarters and charged with larceny. Robinson was also charged with a superior court bench warrant.
