Mulligan's Island changes course, sells to high-tech golf giant (johnstonsunrise.net) β Mulligan's Island, a beloved Cranston family entertainment landmark, is being sold to national golf-range operator Golf Ranch, with the current facility closing Sept. 20 and a revamped complex slated to reopen in spring 2027. Local leaders and longtime patrons reflect on the site's 25-year impact while new owners plan tech-enabled driving bays, upgraded mini golf and batting cages, and expanded food options.

3. Sara Evans Plots 2026 'Holiday Road Tour' (musicrow.com) β Sara Evans is kicking off her 2026 "Holiday Road Tour" right here in Cranston on December 2 at the Historic Park Theatre & Event Center. The show will mix her country hits with classic holiday songs, with opener Braden Hull joining after months on the road with her. Tickets go on general sale August 28, giving locals an early shot at seats.

West Nile virus found again in Providence, Cranston (wpri.com) β Mosquitoes collected in Cranston on August 17 have tested positive for West Nile virus, and state officials say the overall risk level remains high. Residents are urged to avoid dusk-to-dawn exposure, dump standing water, and use repellent and protective clothing through the rest of mosquito season. No EEE has been found yet, but other mosquito-borne viruses are being tracked.

RI Lottery Numbers Midday, Numbers Evening winning numbers for Aug. 27, 2026 (newportri.com) β If you bought a Rhode Island Lottery ticket, you'll need to head to the state lottery headquarters on Pontiac Avenue in Cranston to claim any prize of $600 or more.
