2. Johnson & Wales only pays Providence right now. One Cranston candidate wants to change that (wpri.com) — Cranston's budget hole and city services are at stake as a local council candidate presses Johnson & Wales University to resume voluntary payments for its Harborside and other Cranston properties. With a prior agreement expired in 2023, he's urging Mayor Hopkins and the council to negotiate a new long-term deal so taxpayers aren't left covering fire, police, and other costs alone.
3. 8 Stops to Make During RI Grown Week (providenceonline.com) — Cranston residents can celebrate RI Grown Week with a visit to Pippin Orchards, offering weekend pick-your-own apples, cider doughnuts, pies, and local pantry goods. The statewide event, running Oct. 5–11, also highlights farms, flower growers, alpaca experiences, and juice makers from Lincoln to Little Compton, encouraging shoppers to make a few everyday purchases more local.
4.
