1. RIDOT removes aging bridges, changes traffic patterns as replacement costs climb (turnto10.com) — Drivers in Cranston should prepare for lasting changes on Route 37, where RIDOT is removing the bridge over Power Road and eliminating the shortcut between Chapel View Plaza and the DMV to save millions in replacement costs. The state is also demolishing other aging bridges in Warwick and East Greenwich, replacing some with intersections or smaller spans to cut expenses while still handling projected traffic.
2. Goalkeeper scores 'first ever' 70-yard goal (eastbayri.com) — A Division 1 soccer match at Cranston West saw East Providence goalkeeper Kayke De Campos score an extraordinary 70-yard goal in heavy winds during a 2–2 draw. Cranston fans also watched a strong Townies offense and busy night in goal, as coaches highlighted both the team's scoring talent and the defensive improvements needed for a deeper run this season.
3. Nicholas Colasanto: Providence Roots of Beloved "Cheers" Star (wbsm.com) — Beloved Cheers actor Nicholas Colasanto, who played Coach, had deep Rhode Island roots and was ultimately laid to rest at St. Anne's Cemetery in Cranston. The story traces his upbringing in Providence, Navy service, studies at Bryant, and later Hollywood success, highlighting how a local kid became part of one of TV's most iconic ensembles.
4. A CHRISTMAS CAROL Casts Mauro Hantman as Scrooge for Trinity Rep's 50th (broadwayworld.com) — Two Cranston youths, Tess Loezos and Gabriel Taveras, have landed roles in Trinity Rep's 50th anniversary production of A Christmas Carol running November 5 to December 31 in Providence. The theater is also inviting young artists to submit holiday-themed artwork and offering Pay What You Wish and sensory-friendly performances to keep this long-running tradition accessible to Rhode Islanders.
