The EARTH DAY gathering will meet at the American Legion Post 2 (rear of Police Station) in W. Warwick @ 8:30Am on Saturday, May 16th and will be assigned areas for clean-up along the West Bay Bikepath (Greenway), Arctic Business District and the Pawtuxet River Walkway. Earth Day continues in the Pawtuxet Valley - Arctic Village

On May 15 at 4pm -- Celebrate America 250th by enjoying a relaxing evening tea, sampling one of the teas (Chinese Bohea or Gunpowder) RI ladies burned in British protest at Providence Market Sq. Ladies &amp; Gents. Must RSVP/Limited seating of 10 only. Call 944-9226. $22 nonmembers; $20 members, payable by May 10 to Cranston Historical Society, 1351 Cranston St., Cranston 02920. Age appropriate 12 &amp; older. Accessible/parking in back.
The Spring-Time Tour with Tea is designed to be a small, intimate yet informal gathering ~ Includes tea of the evening and a delightful sweet. Sorry, we cannot accommodate food sensitivities. After May 10, call to inquire if seating is available. Accessible entrance and parking at back of mansion.

Saturday, May 23 | 10:00 to 11:30 a.m.
Developed as a healing art, qigong is a gentle yet empowering movement practice that strengthens your vital energy (qi). Similar to tai chi, it is usually practiced slowly while standing, but because it does not involve a specific sequence of movements it is simpler to learn. No experience needed.
Following qigong practice, we will settle onto the floor to learn a few self-acupressure points. (A couple chairs will be available if needed.) The workshop will conclude with a brief meditation, either seated or supine, in which acupressure will be offered. Bring a mat or blanket if you have one, and wear loose clothing.

The JAYCEES Alumni will be advocating walking/hiking, planting/pruning, wildlife and water fowl observations along their 400 linear foot award-winning Arboretum, the 1.3 mile rugged state Senator Donald Roch Riverwalk, traversing along the newly-established West Warwick Riverwalk (Pawtuxet River Valley Walkway) and the extensive six(6) mile West Bay Bikepath or Greeway, connecting the municipalities of Cranston, Warwick, West Warwick and Coventry in central Rhode Island.
This picturesque trail system is nestled along the longest waterway of the state and its all-important confluence of the north and south branches, the Pawtuxet River and its watershed.
National Trail Day is the largest nationwide celebration designed to promote healthy lifestyles, outdoor open space activities such as paddling / kayaking, trail walking/running, wildlife and water fowl observations and the overall concept of connecting the public with trails in their communities and regions while building partnerships to protect and enhance trails and nature lanes.

Voices of the Earth: The Future of Our Planet IV - Building Innovative Bridges for Tomorrow will be officially released at a special event on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 11 AM to 1 PM in the William Hall Library Auditorium (1825 Broad Street Cranston, RI 02905).We warmly invite you to join Notable Works, Stormwater Innovation Center and the Cranston Public Library for this inspiring event, where guests will have the opportunity to be among the first to experience a new collection of original poems and artworks. Each piece is thoughtfully created around the theme: “Bridging the Divide and Coming Together for a Common Goal.” Beyond showcasing creative voices, this beautiful publication also includes a listing of nearly 100 dedicated environmental agencies across Rhode Island. We hope you’ll join us in celebrating music, art, poetry, and the collective power of community as we work towards a more sustainable and innovative future!
This special celebration will feature an inspiring lineup of speakers, poets, artists, composers and musicians whose expertise and creativity enrich this “Voices of the Earth” event. Scientist Sara Sampieri Horvet of the Stormwater Innovation Center, who brings over twenty years of experience in water quality science will deliver the keynote address. Notable Works is also proud to present readings by six poets whose works are included in this new publication:
<ul><li>Christopher Gaynor — Employed by the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management, Christopher has served in the United States Peace Corps in Tanzania and as an American corps serviceman in VT. </li><li>Kate Hamilton — As a member of the Barrington Land Conservation Trust’s Board of Directors and a volunteer at the East Bay Food Pantry in Bristol, Kate enjoys creating art and especially writing poetry about nature and the world around her.</li><li>Theresa Hickey — An award-winning poet and freelance writer, Theresa is honored to have recently published her fourth collection of poems.</li><li>Janet D. Johnson — As professor of English Education at Rhode Island College and site director for the Rhode Island Writing Project (RIWP), Janet works with K-12 teachers on integrating writing and critical literacy both inside and outside the classroom.</li><li>Peg Paolino — A wife, mother, grandmother, and retired nurse, Peg finds writing poetry to be a meaningful way of sharing her thoughts and reflections.</li><li>Sherri Stepakoff — Sherri served as the inaugural poet in residence at Unity Farm Sanctuary, an animal rescue farm in Sherburn, Massachusetts. Her poetry collection, Sanctuary at Unity Farm, will be released this summer.</li></ul>
This June 27th celebration will also showcase a musical performance by the Notable Works’ Ensemble, premiering new works by Notable Works’ Artist and Residence Noreen Inglesi and special guest composer and performer Mary Zema. There will also be a premiere of a newly created video which brings to light the great work of Stormwater Innovation Center at Roger Williams Park.
Whether you are a passionate supporter of the arts or simply curious about local environmental efforts, this event promises to offer something special for everyone. We look forward to your presence as we unite in celebration and inspire each other to make a lasting impact.
