Carjacker Robs Cranston Salon, Takes Mother and Baby on Scary Ride
Police said the suspect had the victim drive him down Reservoir Avenue where he got into a BMW and took off. Nobody was hurt.

Cranston police are searching for a man who robbed a city hair salon and carjacked a vehicle occupied by a mother and her one-year-old Sunday morning.
Cranston Police Chief Col. Michael J. Winquist said that the woman and child were thankfully unharmed and the suspect, described as a six-foot tall black man weighing between 250 and 270 pounds was last seen getting into a dark four-door BMW.
At about 9 a.m., police got a call reporting a robbery that had just occurred at Shear Dimensions Hair Salon at 885 Reservoir Ave.

The suspect reportedly had fled the salon on foot. Moments later, police got a report that a suspect matching the description of the robber had just carjacked a car parked with its engine running on Knollwood Avenue.
With the woman and her infant inside, the suspect had the woman drive south on Reservoir Avenue before it stopped near 1200 Reservoir Ave.

The suspect, wearing a hooded sweatshirt, then got into an older model dark BWM and was last seen heading north on Reservoir Avenue.
Police said the suspect had a medium complexion and appeared to be in his mid- to late-30s. He was unshaven had a braided cornrow hairstyle.
The suspectβs complexion is blotchy around his mouth and fingers, police said.
