The boys of the CLCF 10U baseball team are facing some stiff competition at the 2014 Cal Ripken Babe Ruth 10U World Series in Winchester, VA.
The team dropped their first two games and are looking for redemption.
CLCF opened the games playing Southeastern Lexington Kentucky. After a meet and greet with Ryan Zimmerman, the third baseman for the Washington Nationals, the two teams took to the field for game one of four games for each team in pool play.

Alex Marot got the start on the mound for New England for the first three innings and Kentucky scored four runs in the bottom of the third inning.
Tyler DiNezza pitched the fourth inning and Kentucky scored four runs in the bottom of the fourth. Preston Kermen pitched the fifth inning.

New England runs came in on the top of the first inning: Marot hit a double and came in to score on a RBI hit by DiNezza. In the top of the sixth inning, Jacob Chin lead off with a walk and scored, Matthew Barbarino followed with a hit, Andrew Travieso reached on a walk sending Barbarino to second base, Barbarino scored on a fielder’s choice by Alex Marot.
But it wasn’t enough and Kentucky beat New England 8-3 in the first game of pool play. After the game, Tyler DiNezza received the game Most Valuable Player pin for team New England Region.
On Monday, in a rainy and awful day, Preston Kermen got the start on the mound for New England as CLCF faced off against Sarasota, FL.
Sarasota scored one run at the top of the first inning on a homerun. At the bottom of the first inning, Cranston answered back as Andrew Travieso walked, stole second and third and scored on a wild pitch to tie the game at one all.
At the top of the second inning, Sarasota scored three runs.
Andrew Travieso took the mound in the top of the third inning for a one, two, three inning. In the top of the fourth Sarasota scored four runs to take an 8-1 lead. Cranston scored two in the bottom of the fourth when Tyler Dinezza lead off with a hit and stole all around to score, Cole Carbone walked and scored on a ground ball RBI out to first. Making the score 8-3. Matthew Barbarino came in to pitch the top of the fifth inning. Sarasota scored three runs, making the score 11-3 and that was the final after six innings of play. Cranston had four errors in the game.
Tyler DiNezza received the game Most Valuable Player pin for team New England Region.
Cranston is set to take on Williamsburg, VA., on Wednesday.
