CLCF Bombers Enjoying Victory at RI ASA Fall Ball Cup

The CLCF Bombers U12 Gold girls softball team captured the RI ASA Fast pitch Fall Ball Cup beating their crosstown rival, Cranston Ravens Gold, 11-3 on Sunday, October 12th in the championship game at Brayton Park. The girls started the day by defeating the New England Phoenix 6-5 in a thrilling extra innings nail biter. They then defeated a tough Cranston Ravens Purple team 6-1 in the semi-finals.

The Bombers were led by Brenna Whitaker who was the pitcher of record in 2 wins giving up 8 hits while striking out 13 batters. She also chipped in with 4 hits in the 3 wins.

“Brenna was a stud today! When she is on, she is one of the best pitchers in the state!” Manager Carlos Rodas said.

Emily Carter got the other win on the mound, while driving in 8 RBI’s on the day.

“This was a total team effort.”, Rodas said. “We were short-handed and battling injuries but the girls were determined to win this thing on our home turf.” The year-end playoff was played at both Brayton Park and Winslow Field in Warwick. It was a single elimination event which was the culmination of the fall seasons played in by travel teams from around the state.
