Monday marked the first day of distance learning in Rhode Island, when students ranging from elementary school to university logged into laptops and went "back to class." Governor Gina Raimondo encouraged families to be patient for the firsts few weeks, which she called an adjustment period.

Around the state, families are making the best of a not-so-great situation, setting up at-home work stations and even offering "cafeteria-style" lunches. Check out some of the first-day photos shared by Rhode Island Patch readers.
