Coventry Man Flees Police, Crashes Into Utility Pole

Coventry Police arrested Thomas Brown, 27, on Sunday after he fled from officers and crashed into a utility pole near Flat River Road.

COVENTRY, R.I. -- A Coventry man is facing several charges after fleeing from police and crashing into a pole on Sunday. Thomas Brown, 27, was held overnight at the Coventry Police Department and arraigned at 3rd District Court on Monday.

According to a press release, officers were responding to a domestic disturbance on Main Street when they saw Brown's car speed by. They attempted to stop the vehicle, and pursued it when Brown refused to pull over. The officers then lost sight of the vehicle on Flat River Road.

A short time later, Brown lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a utility pole. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Brown was taken to Rhode Island Hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries. He was charged with domestic breaking and entering, reckless driving, DUI, and other traffic violations.
