Cranston Gas Station Celebrates Renovations with Upside-Down American Flags
The display angered many drivers passing through a busy city intersection.

Drivers cruising along Park Avenue and Budlong Road on Wednesday might have noticed a rather unpatriotic display of upside down American flags outside of a gas station.
UPDATE: Owner Apologizes, Employee Fired
The Bestway gas station at the intersection of Budlong Road and Park and Dyer Avenue has been undergoing renovations for several weeks and just reopened recently. Along with the big open flag, the upside-down American flags appeared on Wednesday, apparently to celebrate the completion of renovations.
Dennis F. Conte said he was driving at around 1:30 p.m. when he saw the flags. He was immediately upset, pulled in and told employees inside that it was disrespectful.
