Cranston Man Caught With Over 7 Pounds Of Meth, Cocaine: State Police

Rhode Island State Police said they seized 3.45 kilograms of methamphetamine, 264.50 grams of cocaine and 25.60 grams of fentanyl.

CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston man was arrested after Rhode Island State Police said they worked together with Cranston police to catch him with more than seven pounds of methamphetamine, cocaine and fentanyl.

"This investigation is a great example of the excellent collaboration and coordination we have in Rhode Island’s law enforcement community," said Capt. Peter Chabot, the assistant detective commander of Rhode Island State Police. "We are especially pleased that this effort led to a significant arrest and will keep these drugs off of our streets."

State Police on Friday said they initiated an investigation into Manuel Coradin, 43, with the help of Cranston police. According to State Police, Coradin was distributing and selling drugs in greater Providence.

Police said they searched Coradin's home and found:

  • 3.45 kilograms of methamphetamine pills/tablets
  • 264.50 grams of cocaine
  • 25.60 grams of fentanyl pills/tablets
  • United States currency - $13,260.00
  • One (1) Taurus G3 9 mm pistol
  • One (1) sixteen (16) round large capacity magazine containing an undetermined amount of 9 mm ammunition
  • Two (2) vehicles
  • Scales and packaging material used in the distribution of illegal narcotics.

Coradin was charged with possession with intent to deliver in excess of one kilogram of cocaine, two counts of possession with intent to deliver a schedule II controlled substance (cocaine, fentanyl), possession with intent to deliver a schedule I controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of a firearm by certain persons prohibited, possession of a firearm when committing a controlled substance violation and large capacity feeding deice prohibited.

"Removing deadly drugs and firearms from our streets is a victory for law enforcement and translates into safer communities," said Cranston police Chief Michael Winquist. "This investigation also underscores the value of partnerships and the commitment of Officers and Troopers who make this work their highest priority. I commend them for their diligence on this case, which led to a successful outcome."

At the time of his arrest, Coradin was found to be on federal probation stemming from a previous narcotics distribution conviction. Coradin was arraigned at Third Division District Court and, after his appearance, was held without bail.

Coradin faces a potential life prison sentence and over a $1 million in fines if convicted.
