RI Man Wins $50,000 On Lottery Ticket

CRANSTON, RI — A Cranston man won $50,000 playing a bingo lottery game, Rhode Island Lottery officials said Friday.

Lottery officials said the man thought he won $400, as he matched three lines. But the store clerk said he had to go to the Rhode Island Lottery Headquarters in Cranston to claim his prize.

After investigating his winning ticket further, he realized he won $50,000 on his $5 wager by matching the diamond pattern.

Lottery officials said the winner purchased his winning ticket at Convenience Plus, 1243 Atwood Ave. in Johnston, and then danced his way into the Rhode Island Lottery singing "Stayin’ Alive" to pick up his check.
