Cranston's Roy Drafted by Pirates
Jeff Roy of Cranston was picked in the 18th round of the MLB draft by the Pittsburg Pirates.

Cranston native Jeff Roy has been drafted by the Pittsburg Pirates.
Roy, who played ball at Bishop Hendricken High School in Warwick, is a student at the University of Rhode Island. He hit .285 in 228 at bats at URI this past year.
Roy was picked 539th overall in the 18th round.

"Thank you everyone I wouldn't be in this position if it wasn't for my friends and family and teammates," Roy said on Twitter shortly after being drafted. "I love you all."
