Election Results: RI Speaker Upset In Heated District 15 Race
The Associated Press declared Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung the projected winner of the District 15 House race.

PROVIDENCE, RI โ In what will likely be the upset of election night 2020 in Rhode Island, The Associated Press declared Republican Barbara Ann Fenton-Fung the projected winner of the hotly contested state representative race in Cranston's District 15, unseating current House Speaker Nicholas Mattiello.
The Rhode Island Board of Elections posted partial mail ballot results just after 1 a.m. Breakdowns for posted races are available online.
"The victory is sure to trigger a power struggle in the Democratic-controlled state Legislature, where Mattiello had faced a number of recent controversies," The Associated Press wrote. "The Cranston district had backed Trump for president in 2016, and in 2018, Mattiello defeated his GOP opponent by just 329 votes."
