Elections Security Committee Elects Gorbea To Executive Role

Rhode Island Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea has been named to a leadership role in a national elections security committee. Fellow members of the Elections Infrastructure Information Sharing and Analysis Center elected Gorbea to its executive committee, The Associated Press reported.

The group, funded by the Department of Homeland Security, works to protect the security of elections across the country. Gorbea has stressed the need for secure elections, saying it is a vital part of democracy.

Gorbea will begin her new role on Wednesday.
