The diabetes prevention program at the YMCA is for high risk, qualifying individuals with the goal to reduce their chances of developing type 2 diabetes. The program will also help attendees in maintaining a healthy lifestyle, and provide continuing support even after the 16-week sessions are over.
The program sets up individual goals (such as weight loss and increasing physical activity). Participants must be overweight and at risk for developing diabetes to qualify.
There is a fee to attend the program, but many medical insurances may cover some or all of the cost.
