Federal Hill Restaurant Moving to Cranston

Potenza Ristorante-Bar is coming to Cranston.

After 32 years on Federal Hill in Providence, Potenza Ristorante-Bar this week will be calling Cranston home.

On April 11, the restaurant will open its doors to its new home at 162 Mayfield Ave., the former home of The Sunflower Cafe.

In a letter to customers, Chef Walter Potenza said the news is exciting since the restaurant is "moving to a neighborhood."

The restaurant will keep its formula in place, the chef said.

"Of course, we will have the same fabulous seasonal menu, gluten free menu and "Appy" Hour menu," he said. "Just changing addresses. . .same pride, passion, great food and great service."

Potenza Ristorante-Bar opened in 1985 in East Greenwich under the name Walters.

The Federal Hill location has historic value as home of the first pasta company in New England, known as the New England Macaroni Company.

In recent years, Chef Walter has focused on nutrition and wellness, building a menu that caters to not just lovers of Italian gastronomy, but people with allergies, nutritional issues and specific diets for health and medical reasons.
