The Rhode Island governor said she was happy to support Vice President Biden following his sudden surge on Super Tuesday.

PROVIDENCE, RI โ Immediately following Mike Bloomberg's announcement that he was dropping out of the Democratic presidential race, Rhode Island Governor Gina Raimondo said she is throwing her full support behind former Vice President Joe Biden.
"After his performance [on Super Tuesday], I say, hat's off to him!" Raimondo said Wednesday morning.
The governor said she spoke with Bloomberg Wednesday morning, just before he suspended his campaign.

"Both he and I will be throwing our full support behind Vice President Biden," Raimondo said, adding that Bloomberg is a "man of character" for making the decision so quickly.
Bloomberg's results on Super Tuesday, the first primary with his name on the ballot, were, to say the least dismal. The billionaire did not win in any of the continental United States, only winning in American Samoa. Wednesday morning, he announced that he would be suspending his campaign.

"For me, there was not time for dilly-dallying," Raimondo said of his quick decision to endorse the former vice president. "We have to be practical ... to keep our eye on the prize to defeat Trump."
As for Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who stumbled even in her home state on Tuesday, Raimondo said she "needs to take a breath and make her own decision" about whether to stay in the race.
"I feel for her, she deserves a lot of credit," Raimondo said.
