Fred Astaire Donates

Warwick, RI, July 2018 – The Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Warwick is proud to announce their donation of over 120 canned & non-perishable food items to the RI Community Food Bank.

On July 13th, 2018 - Fred Astaire Warwick’s talented staff hosted their 4th Annual “Backlot Barbecue.” Since its inception in the Summer of 2015, the event has been a night to “Dunk, Dine, Dance, & Donate,” and become a favorite among Fred Astaire Warwick’s student body.

Dine, dance, and donate are all self-explanatory, but, “What does the ‘Dunk’ stand for?” For dunking the “Team Warwick” instructors in the Dunk Tank, of course! Each year, the teachers of the Fred Astaire Dance Studio of Warwick have enthusiastically volunteered to get dunked in exchange for canned & non-perishable food donations. Each item is worth 1 throw at the instructor of the student’s choosing, and not necessarily their own. The evening has proven time and time again to be one of laughter, splashing, & of course dancing in between dunks.

On the Monday following the Barbecue party, the Fred Astaire Warwick Staff was excited to visit the RI Community Food Bank, an organization that has a far-reaching effect throughout Rhode Island. In dropping off the donation, the mood was one of good cheer, in ensuring the items would be distributed in the best possible way, and pride in giving back to the local community.
