Fung Demands Apology for Block Supporter's Nazi Pic
The Fung for Governor campaign is unhappy over the use of Nazi imagery by a Ken Block Supporter on Facebook.

That was an image posted on Facebook by Peter Godon, a supporter of Republican Ken Block for Governor. Now, the campaign for Cranston Mayor Allan W. Fung, who is competing against Block for the Republican nomination, is calling for an apology and for Block to renounce the use of the Nazi imagery.
“Ken Block must apologize to Fung supporters and all Rhode Islanders for this disgusting and offensive campaign tactic,” said Patrick Sweeny, Fung’s campaign manager. “Allan Fung has a proven record of accomplishment and Rhode Islanders from every walk of life support his vision for the future of Rhode Island. The people of Rhode Island deserve real leadership and the Block Campaign’s comparison of Fung supporters to Nazi soldiers is an unconscionable tactic, which demonstrates the desperation of Block’s campaign.”

Godon, a contributor and “key supporter” of the Block campaign, Sweeney said, should have all of his campaign contributions returned in addition to the demand for a renouncement by Block.
The image, which was captioned “Can you spot any difference in their actions?” is highly offensive, Sweeney said.

“Nazi soldiers massacred millions of people in the Holocaust and waged a world war in which more than one million US military personnel were killed or wounded. The Block Campaign’s comparison of the actions of Allan Fung supporters to genocide and world war is outrageous and highly offensive. Ken Block must apologize, immediately dismiss Mr. Godon from his campaign, and return his political contributions,” Sweeney said.
The Girls Just Want to Have Fung slogan was coined by a group of Fung supporters who enjoy its 1980s Cyndi Lauper reference and wanted to highlight Fung’s sense of humor.
