The average price per gallon in the Ocean State is now $3.03.
PROVIDENCE, RI — After months of steadily increasing, gas prices in Rhode Island fell last week, according to AAA Northeast.
The current average price per gallon for regular, unleaded gas is $3.03, one cent lower than last week's average. Rhode Island's average price is 12 cents lower than the national average of $3.15.

"For pump prices to push less expensive, OPEC will need to follow through with their production increases, crude will need to sell consistently at lower prices and the market will need to adjust to the potential resurgence of COVID cases," Lloyd Albert said. "If these factors prove true consistently, pump prices could be less expensive in August, though the national average could still be at or above the $3 per gallon mark."
This time last month, prices in Rhode Island were about the same, at $2.99. A year ago, the state average was 89 cents lower at $2.14.
