Heightened School Security Continues

Heightened security continued Tuesday morning at schools in Cranston as students returned after a three–day weekend. Officers are patrolling following last week’s threat. It is the fourth day of increased police presence at schools in the district.

ABC6 reported that no new information about the letter has been found.

The handwritten threat was sent to the Johnston Police department last Tuesday and targeted elementary school kids in Johnston, Cranston and Warwick. The threat caused a decline in student attendance.

Cranston will continue to have increased security at least through Tuesday. The Police Chief says they will be reassessing the situation at the end of the school day.

No incidents have occurred as of Tuesday afternoon.
