Honeywell to Close Cranston Facility

Honeywell Safety Products will close its Cranston plant on Plainfield Pike, the company said in a statement.

“After thorough consideration, we have decided to close our facility in Cranston and transition operations to other existing Honeywell facilities. While this will impact manufacturing and distribution roles, non-production employees will be relocated to our Smithfield facilities,” the company said in a statement.

Honeywell declined releasing details on how many people would lose their jobs.

The company said it has hundreds of Rhode Island employees working for different Honeywell businesses.

“We continue to be committed to the communities where we live and work. This transition focuses only on the Cranston manufacturing and distribution operations and will help ensure a competitive business model aimed at long-term growth and profitability, and is linked to the needs of our customers,” the company said.
