Letter To The Editor: Mayoral Candidate Stycos Adds Endorsements
The Democratic City Councilman has been endorsements from two former Cranston Mayors who laud Stycos from his integrity and commitment.

CRANSTON, RI – Democratic mayoral candidate and Cranston City Councilman Steve Stycos has received endorsements from two former Democratic mayors, John O’Leary and Michael Napolitano, Sr., Stycos’ campaign announced Monday.
Stycos is in a primary election on Sept. 8 and if he is victorious, will face the Republican opponent in the Nov. 3 general election. Both O’Leary and Napolitano have pledged their support throughout the election process, the campaign announced.
“For 20 years, he has represented his community and has always had its best interest at heart,” said Napolitano, who served as Cranston’s mayor from 2007-2009.

He added: "The people of Cranston would do themselves a wonderful favor in supporting a man of this character. He will be a wonderful mayor."
In addition to serving for 10 years as a city councilman, Stycos has also served for 10 years on the Cranston district school committee for 10 years – a record that both former mayors referenced in their endorsement.

“I have found him to be intelligent, dedicated and a fiercely independent man of integrity,” O’Leary, who served as mayor from 1999-2003, said in the news release. “He carries no political baggage and is beholden only to the wellbeing of Cranston.
“Steve Stycos rises above for his commitment to the people of Cranston, his diligence to improving their lives.
The endorsements from O’Leary and Napolitano go along those received from Ward 3 Councilperson John Donegan, Ward 2 Councilperson Aniece Germain, former Council President John Lanni, former Citywide Councilperson Sarah Lee and former Ward 1 Councilperson Ellen O’Hara.
