Local Felon Found with Guns, Drugs and White Supremacist Flags

Nicholas Colacone is facing weapons and drug charges following an investigation that began with a tip on a police department website.

A 36-year-old Johnston man has been charged with illegal weapons possession after police raided his apartment on Wednesday and found rifles, a shotgun, two revolvers, a bulletproof vest, drugs, Nazi and white supremacist flags and other weapons.

Johnston police said they seized the weapons after they got a tip on their website and launched an investigation.

Nicholas Colacone, of Simmons Village Apartments at 347 Simmonsville Ave.,, was due to be arraigned Thursday for the charge.

In the apartment, police said numerous flags and banners were hanging in the apartment.

Along with the guns, police found knives, clubs, hammers and brass knuckles, police said.

Colacone is being charged with possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a crime of violence, possession of a controlled substance and possession of brass knuckles.

Colacone pleaded no contest to a charge of manufacturing and delivery of a controlled substance in 2000.
