Mad about No Snow Day? Don't Post a Threat on Facebook

The police determined a Cranston East student's Facebook post was not a credible threat.

CRANSTON, RI—Police on Sunday spoke with a Cranston East student after learning about a Facebook post, in which the youngster allegedly threatened to shoot up the school, if classes were not cancelled.

But the post was not a credible threat, according to Col. Michael J. Winquist.

"We became aware of the posting last night on Facebook you referenced in your email," he said. "We immediately launched an investigation and determined the threatening comments by the student were not credible. The police department investigation is complete and the matter is now being handled administratively by school officials.
