Nobody Hurt in Middle Road Fire

The house was a total loss.

A Middle Road man and woman and their dogs escaped a fire that destroyed their house Saturday night.

Members of the East Greenwich Fire Department responded to the house, located at 1796 Middle Road, and found it fully involved, said Lt. Robert Gardner of the East Greenwich Fire Department.

The house was a total loss in the two-alarm fire, Gardner said, and East Greenwich received assistance from Warwick, West Warwick and North Kingstown Fire Departments.

The first call came in at around 7:20 p.m. when a neighbor saw the flames from their own house, Gardner said.

The residents got out safely, Gardner said, but they didn’t have a cell phone on them and were forced to watch their house burn while standing in their driveway.
