Police ID Pedestrian Killed On I-95 North In Providence

Gregory Perez, 30, walked onto the highway around 2 a.m. wearing dark clothing and crossed three lanes before he was hit, police said.

PROVIDENCE, RI — A Providence man was hit and killed on Interstate 95 North at the Thurber's Avenue exit early Wednesday morning. Later that day, Rhode Island State Police identified the victim as Gregory Perez, 30.

According to police, Perez, who was wearing dark clothing, walked onto the highway from the right breakdown lane just past 2 a.m. He then crossed three lanes before he was hit by a driver heading north. Perez was pronounced dead at the scene.

While the crash is still being investigated, police do not expect that the driver will face charges.
