Reds Fall in U.S. Open Cup Play, 1-0
The fledgling Rhode Island Reds came close to tying up the game, but fell just short in a windy game at Cranston Stadium on Sunday.

The Rhode Island Reds are a fledgling semi-professional soccer team and member of the National Premier Soccer League who call Cranston Stadium home.
The team has been around since 2012 and finished fourth in their division in their opening season.
On Sunday, the Reds played hard during a windy U.S. Open Cup Region 1 game at Cranston Stadium but fell short to Mass Premier Soccer, 1-0.

According to New England Soccer Today, the Reds attacked Mass Premier with short passing but the team had trouble getting past Mass's back four.
Mass Premier, meanwhile, made trouble at the Rhode Island end and eventually scored in the 19th minute.

Rhode Island came close to tying in the 35th minute when Wilfred Ghanyea passed to Ivan Boaventura, who kicked it through but a flag was raised right at that moment, "much to the chagrin of the home crowd," New England Soccer Today reported.
