Report: Marchetti Served Time for "Golden Nugget" Robberies

Louis Marchetti, who was arrested by Cranston Police for break-ins, served time for working with a gang of burglars who worked with organized crime in the mid 90s.

Louis Marchetti, who was arrested by Cranston Police yesterday after a manhunt and a standoff at his Normandy Drive house, is no stranger to the legal system or area police departments.

According to Walt Buteau at WPRI, Marchetti in 1997 was one of 44 people swept up in a major bust of a burglary ring that worked with organized crime and committed nearly 900 break-ins.

During that time, the crew reportedly stole more than $10 million in jewelry and other merchandise that was laundered at The Golden Nugget pawn shop in Olneyville.
