Rhode Island Now Vaccinating Residents Age 65 And Older

CRANSTON, RI — The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) announced Monday that COVID-19 vaccine eligibility now includes all Rhode Islanders age 65 and older.

Eligible residents can register online for vaccine appointments at one of the two state-run vaccination sites, with one located at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence and the other at Sockanosset Cross Road in Cranston.

The state-run sites are currently able to administer approximately 1,400 doses per day and are expected to double that number to 2,800 by next month.

Rhode Islanders age 65 and older who are unable to register for an appointment online can call the automated line at 844-930-1779 for assistance. Vaccine appointments can also be made at participating CVS or Walgreens pharmacies or through cities and towns as supply becomes available.

Approximately 9,900 Rhode Islanders were vaccinated at the two state-run sites from Friday through Sunday and over 10,000 new appointments will be available Monday, said RIDOH. In the last six weeks, the state's vaccine administration rate has increased by 89 percent.
