It's back-to-school season, which means parents are lining up their kids at the bus stop and on porches to commemorate the first day of school. Here are some of the best current and throwback first day of school photos submitted to Patch over the past week.

Kaydin, who died from cancer, should be starting Preschool this year. His mom, Kelly, submitted this photo in his memory. "Here's to another school year that cancer stole from my son. A milestone he will never reach. A proud moment I will never have," she said. (Submitted by Kelly Almstrom.)
