RI General Election: Voter Registration Deadline Is Oct. 4
There are a few ways to register to vote in the general election on Nov. 3.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Rhode Islanders still have a few days left to register to vote in the general election on Nov. 3. The deadline is Sunday, and there are three ways to register.
Voters can check their status or update their record on Secretary of State Nellie Gorbea's website. Here, residents can also register to vote online.
There are two other options to register to vote in Rhode Island. First, download a voter registration form, then submit it to the local board of canvassers or drop it off at a secure site in the community, listed below.

"As Secretary of State, I am committed to engaging and empowering all Rhode Islanders to play an active role in our state’s future," Gorbea said. "Every day, our elected leaders make decisions that have a direct impact on our lives — both immediate and long-term. The first step to making sure your voice is heard is registering to vote."

Once registered, there are several safe, secure ways to vote. Voters can vote early in-person at their city or town hall, vote in-person at their polling place on Election Day or use a mail-in ballot. Mail-in ballot status can be tracked on the secretary's website, a new feature this year.

Voters have until Oct. 13 to submit their mail ballot application. All active voters were sent a mail ballot application in the mail, though the application must be filled out and returned to receive a ballot, per Rhode Island law. Mail ballots will be sent to voters who requested them starting Oct. 5.
Also new this election season, voters can call 211 with election questions, any time of day, thanks to a partnership between Gorbea's office and the United Way of Rhode Island. More than 200 languages are available.
