RI Man Charged In Connection With NYC Double Murder

PAWTUCKET, RI — A Rhode Island man and fugitive from justice was arrested Wednesday and charged in connection with a double murder in New York City. Victor Cedres, 34, was arrested at his Mineral Spring Avenue home in Pawtucket.

Cedres was charged as a fugitive from justice from the state of New York on two counts of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He was also charged with possession of a controlled substance. At his arraignment in Sixth Division District Court, Cedres waived his right for extradition and was transferred to New York City police to be taken back to New York.

According to Rhode Island State Police, Cedres was wanted in connection with a shooting that killed two people in Brooklyn, New York City on Aug. 20.

On Wednesday, police searched his house during the arrest and found a small amount of a substance believed to be heroin.
