Exits 22 B/C In Providence Will Be Closed Wednesday Night

Head's up for overnight drivers: RIDOT will be closing a main exit into downtown Providence during construction.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Rhode Island Department of Transportation will be temporarily closing Exits 22 B and C of I-95 North from late Wednesday night until early Thursday morning.

RIDOT says the closure will be in place from 9 p.m. on Wednesday until 5 a.m. on Thursday. and will allow crews to perform "preliminary exploratory work" ahead of a planned construction project in the area that is expected to start a month from now. During construction, crews will make repairs to the bridge.

During the closure, drivers will be detoured to Exit 23, the state offices and Route 146. Once the construction project begins, the detour will be in place every Sunday through Thursday night for approximately ten weeks. The closure schedule was planned for overnight hours to minimize impacts to traffic.
