Roger Williams Park Zoo Welcomes Prickly New Arrival
A new baby porcupine was born to parents Flora and Pierre last week.

PROVIDENCE, RI — The Roger Williams Park Zoo has welcomed a new arrival. A baby porcupine was born in the zoo early last week.
The baby porcupine was born to parents Pierre and Flora. Both mother and baby are doing well. It doesn't have a name yet, as zoo staff and veterinarians aren't sure of its gender at this point. A name is expected to be announced soon.

A spokesperson for the zoo said that the prehensile-tailed porcupine is common in South America.
