State Publishes High School Graduation Report Cards
RI has improved, and its high school graduation rate has now come up to U.S. average. How did your school do?

PROVIDENCE, RI—Rhode Island has boosted high school graduation rates. Statewide, as of the Class of 2016, the score is 85 percent, which is now as good as the national average. By contrast, in 2011 and in 2012, the state graduation rate stood at 77 percent.
The state Department of Education earlier this week released the report, which showed the high school graduation rates from 2011 through 2016. The data was presented by district and by individual schools, and there can be some variation. For example, Newport's as a district managed to hit the 85 percent mark, but Rogers High actually outperformed the district. Rogers graduated 91 percent of students in the Class of 2016. The lower district-wide score was due to out-of-district placements, in some cases for special education students, who typically statewide did not fare so well as the general population.
The report also includes the number of students in the graduating class. For example, Blackstone Academy Charter graduated 100 percent of the Class of 2016; only 40 students were in the class, however.

"Three high schools had greater than 10 percentage point increases in four-year graduation rates compared to last year (2015):
